SmartScan Auto – Terms and Conditions

1. Business Information

SmartScan Auto operates as a sole trader in Victoria, Australia, providing mobile vehicle diagnostics and OBD2 scanning services.
We are fully insured for the scope of our operations.

2. Scope of Services

SmartScan Auto provides on-site vehicle diagnostic scanning and reporting using OBD2-compliant tools and software.
Services include Basic Scans, Full Diagnostics, Pre-Purchase Inspections, and Specialist OBD-based assessments (by prior agreement).
SmartScan Auto does not perform mechanical repairs, adjustments, or modifications.
All reports are for informational purposes only.

3. Fees and Charges

Basic Scan – $30
Full Diagnostic – $60
Pre-Purchase Inspection – $80
After-Hours Call-Out Fee (after 6:00 PM) – $10
Travel Fee if outside a radius 10kms of Campbellfield -$20
Specialist Services – Price on request (via direct message)

If no faults are found, no charge applies except for after-hours call-out fees.

4. No Fault, No Charge Policy

If no system faults are identified, customers will not be billed for diagnostic services rendered.
The after-hours call-out fee remains payable after 6:00 PM.

5. Safety and Fault Clearing

SmartScan Auto will only clear non-hazardous or non-safety-related faults.
Faults related to ABS, SRS, airbags, braking systems, or any other safety modules will not be cleared.

6. Insurance and Liability

SmartScan Auto maintains appropriate public liability insurance for all diagnostic activities.
We shall not be held liable for subsequent issues, damage, loss, or claims resulting from reliance on diagnostic reports or third-party actions based on diagnostic data.

7. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must provide accurate vehicle information, safe access, and follow up with a qualified mechanic regarding identified faults.
SmartScan Auto is not responsible for consequences resulting from inaction or neglect.

8. Power Supply Requirements

For all Full Diagnostic scans, SmartScan Auto requires access to an AC power outlet to ensure vehicle stability and prevent battery discharge.
Vehicles will be connected to an external AC power supply for the duration of testing.
This supply maintains constant voltage to the vehicle’s battery but does not charge the battery.
All vehicle batteries are tested prior to any diagnostic works. If the battery is determined to be in poor condition, the customer will be notified before proceeding.
SmartScan Auto accepts no responsibility for diagnostic interruptions or system faults resulting from refusal or inability to provide suitable power access.

9. Mobile Service and Travel Fees

SmartScan Auto provides mobile diagnostic services based in Campbellfield, Victoria.
Travel within a 10 km radius of Campbellfield incurs no additional fee.
For service locations exceeding 10 km from Campbellfield, a $20 travel fee will apply to cover fuel and travel time.
Distances are calculated using the most direct route via Google Maps at the time of booking.

10. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations prior to arrival incur no fee.
Cancellations upon arrival may incur a $10 call-out fee.
Refunds apply only where SmartScan Auto fails to deliver the agreed diagnostic service.

11. Privacy and Data Protection

SmartScan Auto complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Customer and diagnostic data are securely stored and never shared with third parties, except when legally required.

12. Limitation of Liability

SmartScan Auto is not liable for direct, indirect, or consequential loss related to use of services or reliance on diagnostic information.

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
Disputes will be handled in the courts of Victoria.

14. Amendments

SmartScan Auto reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions without prior notice.
Customers should review this page periodically.
